Denmark? Dänemark? Dinamarca? No, it’s Danmark!
Coherence Engine : Real Map 0.1
Geoff Cohen has drafted a map of Europe where all the countries have kept the names of the national language. I’ve been thinking about the same a couple of times the last few years (which of course means that I’m far more clever and avant garde than mr. Geoff two-steps-behind Cohen).
In Ceska they have promised to take the “Pilsner” beer to the European Commision — making it a Ceska-only beer type. Which would cause some changes in quite a few danish low-end beers. That’s ok.
But why is it that countries aren’t protective about the national brands like the name of the country and the capital?
Statement: I think that Real Maps are the only way to go! It might be harder to learn. But funnier. And definitely a more friendly attitude when travelling among the locals. And should Europe unite, like 100%, the geographical name conventions should be national. Althogh disputes wait ahead on that one…
