Fake Weblogs

A-B-L-O-G.COM

The last few days my referrer list has been flooded with apparently fake weblogs like the above. They share characteristics like non-personal entries and fake unavailable comments.

What is going on?

Update: Jay Allen — mr. MT-blacklist — supplied the explanation in his comment below: porn sites hiding behind blogs. The bad guys are clever and cunning and you should definitely read this if you are interested in the tech behind. Or if you’d like to know why people that are not linking to you are showing up in your stats.

I consider implementing mt-blacklist like rules into my referrerscript, feeding it with a list of the domains given by idly.org above.(update: my referer script now has a filter-file with a list of domains to ignore.)

I also have a bad feeling, that Bad GuysTM will be chasing loopholes till the end of time. This is not over. Just listen to Mark Pilgrim on weblog spam
